First day in Rome: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and surroundings to Piazza Farnese
I took the first flight from Madrid to Rome , which lasted 2 hours and a half, so at 10 in the morning I was already in the Italian capital. We went to the hotel to check-in, left our luggage and left quickly to enjoy a first contact on this trip through Rome in 5 days .
I recommend you start with some of the most famous monuments in Rome, such as the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum . It is very important that you book your ticket here in advance so that the same thing that happened to me does not happen to you.
Seeing the ruins of Ancient Rome, one seems to have stepped into a time machine.
Then visit the Capitoline Museums , the Piazza del Campidoglio where the replica of the Capitoline Wolf is located , and take a leisurely walk along the Via del Foro Imperial to see the impressive Trajan ‘s Forum .
Day 2 in Rome: Castel Sant’Angelo and the most famous squares and fountains in Rome

Day 3 in Rome: Vatican, Trastevere and Jewish Quarter

We liked it so much that we went back 3 times. Then you can finish the third day in Rome knowing the old Jewish quarter . Fourth day: Circus Maximus, Baths of Caracalla, Mouth of Truth and several basilicas
No wonder Rome is known as the Eternal City , because we would need a lifetime to get to know it in depth. On the fourth day of this itinerary through Rome in 5 days , I suggest you start in an area a little further from the center, but no less impressive for that.
Roman circuses attract my attention , as they make me imagine what chariot races were like in the past , almost as exciting as they were dangerous. In Spain we have the Roman circus of Mérida , one of the oldest in the Iberian Peninsula. But of course, it cannot compete with the Circus Maximus in Rome , which could accommodate up to 300,000 spectators. Day 5: Villa Borghese, Piazza del Popolo, Quirinal Palace and return flight

Apart from strolling through its gardens on foot or on a scooter (they rent them directly there), I recommend visiting the Casina dell’Orologio , the Casa del Cinema and the Pincio viewpoint , from where you have the best views of Piazza del Popolo with its two twin churches.
